About FreightForge

Built by people who've lived the problem.

FreightForge was built by two people with decades of combined experience in freight brokerage, transportation, and freight payments, who got tired of watching brokers, spot market shippers and 3PLs lose ground to fraud, bad data, and an over-reliance on load boards that no longer work in their favor.

Why we built this

The freight industry has a trust problem.
We've seen it up close.

Between the two of us, we've spent decades in this industry - as brokers, as freight payments professionals, and as people who've watched the same problems repeat themselves year after year. Carrier fraud is more sophisticated than it's ever been. Double brokering is costing brokers real money. The tools most brokerages use to vet carriers - a quick FMCSA lookup and a certificate of insurance were never designed to catch what today's fraud operations are doing.

At the same time, most small-to-mid sized brokers are still running the same playbook they were running ten years ago. Post a load, take bids, hope the carrier shows up clean. The load boards keep getting more expensive. Margins keep getting thinner. And the brokerage never quite builds the carrier relationships that would change the economics of the whole operation.

FreightForge exists to change that. Not for the enterprise brokerages that have the staff and budget to build their own systems - they're fine. For the small and mid-size brokerages doing real freight work every day, who deserve better tools without a seven-figure technology budget to access them.

We spent years at U.S. Bank working in the freight audit and payments business, one of the most data-intensive corners of the transportation industry. That experience gave us a deep understanding of how carrier data works, where it breaks down, and what it takes to build systems that financial institutions trust with billions of dollars in freight payments annually.

We took that foundation and built FreightForge around a simple idea: Every broker, regardless of size, should be able to vet a carrier the way a large shipper vets a carrier. With real verification and fraud detection that goes beyond what FMCSA publishes. With a directory of vetted carriers searchable by lane, equipment, and risk score. And with tools that help them build the trusted carrier relationships that reduce their dependence on the spot market.

We're lean by design. Two people who know this industry, building tools that actually work for the people who need them most.

"The brokers we're building for aren't looking for enterprise software. They're looking for a fair fight. Better tools. Better data. Better carrier relationships. That's what FreightForge is."

Who FreightForge is for

Built for the people doing the actual work.

Small-to-mid-size freight brokers

Regional and independent brokerages who need enterprise-grade carrier verification and fraud protection without an enterprise-size technology budget. Our core audience is the brokerage doing serious freight work with a lean team.

Shippers accessing the spot market

Companies that move freight regularly and need visibility into carrier quality before they tender a load. FreightForge gives shippers the same carrier intelligence tools that large logistics operations use internally and are accessible without a TMS or a dedicated logistics team.

Carriers who want to be found

Small-to-mid sized fleets who want to get in front of verified freight brokers on their lanes without paying load board fees or competing in a race to the bottom on rate. A free carrier profile in the FreightForge directory puts you in front of brokers actively searching your lanes.

How we work

Three things we believe that shape everything we build.

Fraud prevention is a right, not a premium feature

A brokerage doing 50 loads a month faces the same fraud exposure as one doing 5,000. The verification tools should be the same.

FreightForge's 3-layer fraud detection runs on every carrier in the directory - not just on enterprise plans.

Load board dependency is a choice that can be changed

Every carrier you vet, save, and build a relationship with is a carrier you don't need a load board to find next time.

FreightForge is built around the idea that the best brokerages aren't the ones with the most load board access - they're the ones with the best carrier networks.

Data should work for all brokers, not just large ones

Most large shippers and 3PLs have built their own carrier intelligence platforms - managed services.

Brokers have FMCSA.dot.gov and a phone. We're closing that gap - 30,000+ carrier profiles, 64 data fields per carrier, risk-scored and searchable by lane using our proprietary carrier risk analysis process that assigns a risk score based on the number of carriers a broker runs in that lane.

The team

Two people. Decades of freight experience. One focused mission.

FreightForge

Chris Wilkins

Co-Founder, Industry + Sales

Chris brings more than 30 years of experience in the transportation industry to FreightForge. He spent years working as a freight broker — building carrier relationships, running lanes, and learning firsthand what it takes to operate a brokerage profitably in a market that favors the well-resourced. That experience gives him a ground-level understanding of the problems FreightForge is built to solve that no amount of research can replicate.

Chris also spent significant time at U.S. Bank in the freight audit and payments business — working at the intersection of transportation data, carrier relationships, and financial systems. That background informs FreightForge's approach to carrier data integrity and verification methodology.

FreightForge

David Gebert

Co-Founder, Product + Technology

David's background spans digital product development, marketing technology, and transportation data systems. Like Chris, he spent time at U.S. Bank in the freight audit and payments business — giving him a deep understanding of how carrier data flows through financial and logistics systems, and where the gaps in verification create real risk for the people moving freight.

David leads FreightForge's product and technology direction — from the carrier verification architecture and the FMCSA data pipeline to the broker directory and the carrier intelligence platform. His focus is on making powerful tools accessible to brokerages that have historically had to do without them.
