The FreightForge Directory
200,000+ pieces of capacity for the spot market. Searchable by lane, equipment and capacity.
The FreightForge Directory is a subscription carrier database for freight brokers, 3PLs, spot market shippers and TMS providers. Every carrier is built from live FMCSA data, MOTUS insurance filings and their own submitted lanes and equipment - so you’re searching carriers who have already been verified, not sourcing strangers off a board.

What's in the Directory
Three authoritative sources. One carrier record.
Every profile is assembled from federal records and the carrier’s own submissions, then kept current automatically. You’re not maintaining this data - we are.
FMCSA federal data
Authority status, operating status, safety rating, out-of-service history, power units, drivers, operation classification and cargo authority - 99 fields pulled directly from FMCSA and refreshed continuously.
MOTUS insurance filings
Live insurance filings straight from the federal record - insurer, coverage, filing and expiration dates, so you’re reading what’s actually on file, not a certificate someone emailed you months ago.
Carrier-submitted lanes and equipment
The part FMCSA doesn’t have: the lanes each carrier actually runs, the equipment they actually own, and the freight they prefer to haul - submitted by the carrier during registration.
HOW YOU SEARCH IT
Find carriers the way you actually plan freight.
Search starts with the lane, not the company name. Stack filters until you’re looking at the short list of carriers who can genuinely cover the move.
Lane
Origin and destination by city, state or zone - so you can search a specific corridor or an entire region.
Equipment
Equipment type and lane-specific equipment - van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, RGN, power only, hotshot, specialized and more.
Capacity
Filter by power units to separate a two-truck operation from a fleet that can take committed volume.
Compliance
USDOT status, authorized-to-operate and hazmat authority - filter to exactly the compliance posture your shipper requires.
Geography
Radius search around any point, plus country, home state and states covered - useful when the lane matters less than the footprint.
Identity
Look a carrier up directly by USDOT number, legal name or DBA when you already know who you’re checking.
Filter to the compliance posture your shipper requires.
Authority status, USDOT active or inactive, and hazmat authority are all filters you control, so you can narrow a search to exactly the carriers that meet your customer's requirements. Every profile shows its real status either way - including inactive, so you can tell “not in our directory” apart from "not compliant."
THE CARRIER PROFILE
Everything you'd spend an hour assembling, on one page.
Open any carrier and you get the full picture: legal name and DBA, USDOT and MC, authority and operating status, insurance filings, safety rating and out-of-service history, fleet size and driver count, equipment specifications, the lanes they run, and their headquarters on a map. Contact details - the people you'd actually call - are included with a subscription.
WHAT ACCESS INCLUDES
Four ways to put the data to work.
Unlimited search
Full access to every filter and every result. Search as often as you like, across the entire directory.
Carrier contact details
The phone numbers and email addresses behind each profile, so you can go from search result to conversation without a middleman.
CSV export
Export a filtered result set to CSV and take it into your own systems - your carrier panel, your CRM, your spreadsheets.
API access
Pull carrier data directly into your TMS or platform with a signed REST API and webhook delivery on carrier changes. Priced separately from directory access.
GETTING ACCESS
Directory access is by subscription.
There's no self-serve signup and no public data dump. Accounts are provisioned by our team and scoped to your operation - how many people need access, whether you want contact details and export and whether you're integrating through the API. Tell us how you'd use it and we'll put a number in front of you, in writing, after a short call.
Carriers are never charged. The directory is free to list in.
Request accessBUILT FOR YOUR ROLE
However you move freight, the carrier problem is the same.
Freight brokers
Build a carrier panel by lane instead of re-sourcing every load. Search the corridor, see who runs it and call someone who’s already been verified.
3PL providers
Manage carrier coverage at scale. Filter by lane, equipment and capacity across an entire region and export what you need into your own systems.
TMS providers
Embed verified carrier data inside your platform through the API, so your users never leave your product to vet a carrier.
FOR CARRIERS — FREE
Want to be in the directory? It costs you nothing.
Carriers list free. Complete the carrier registration and 99 fields fill themselves from FMCSA - you add your lanes, equipment and contact details. Then brokers and 3PLs who pay for access find you when theyre searching your corridors. We charge the people looking for carriers, not the carriers.
Carrier RegistrationCOMMON QUESTIONS
What people ask before they subscribe.
Where does the data come from?
Three sources: FMCSA federal records for authority, safety and fleet data; MOTUS filings for insurance; and the carriers themselves for lanes, equipment and freight preferences. We don’t buy lists and we don’t scrape — it’s federal data plus what the carrier tells us during registration.
How current is it?
FMCSA authority and insurance fields refresh on a continuous rolling cycle, around the clock, with the full directory completing a pass roughly every day and a half. Carrier-submitted details update when the carrier updates them.
What happens if FMCSA goes down?
Nothing changes for you. The directory serves every search from our own maintained dataset, so lookups keep working through FMCSA outages — a daily occurrence for anyone querying SAFER directly.
Can we get the data into our own system?
Two ways. Export a filtered result set to CSV, or integrate through the signed REST API and receive webhooks when carrier data changes. The API is priced separately — we’ll scope it with you.
How is access priced?
It depends on how many people need access and which pieces you want — search, contact details, export, API. There’s no public price list because a two-person brokerage and a national 3PL aren’t buying the same thing. A short call gets you a written quote.
Can we see it before we commit?
Yes. We’ll walk you through the directory live on a 30-minute call using real carrier data and your actual lanes, so you can see what coverage looks like on the corridors you run before you decide anything.
